First egg from hen - not very tasty??

My birds free range, although they have been confined to their run the last week to let a food plot germinate (they were eating all the seeds). My Isa brown started laying, but when we tasted her egg(hard boiled), it was not great. My neighbors eggs taste amazing and his birds don’t even free range.

i was still feeding starter/grower and have changed to layer pellets. My neighbor also feeds corn scratch (not sure if it’s only corn or mixed with something).

I read online that adding more protein to our hens’ diet can make for a tastier egg.

thoughts?? What do you feed your layers?
